Join us as soon as possible at our headquarters in Idstein as a Category Director Footwear & Equipment (m/f/d).
The story begins
- Lead and develop the team, fostering both functional and personnel growth
- Define the long-term strategy, focus areas, and direction for the collection
- Develop a roadmap aligned with seasonal goals and strategy
- Oversee the collection development process, collaborating with design, technical, fabric sourcing, product engineering, and allocation teams
- Prepare for and follow up on key milestone meetings (Range, Design, Prototype, Range Fixing, Sales) in coordination with senior leadership
- Handover the collection to sales and marketing, and present to internal teams and external audiences at trade shows and key account meetings
- Analyze key consumer trends and behaviors to inform strategy
- Monitor developments, innovations, and product launches within categories, including pricing structure
- Set and track category-specific goals to ensure alignment with overall strategy
- Identify and track primary and emerging competitors and their activities
- Assess market needs and trends in key target markets
- Evaluate developments within key sales channels
- Develop initial product forecasts based on seasonal financial objectives
- Ensure margin targets are met and take overall P&L responsibility for assigned categories
- Manage the budget for assigned categories
- Collaborate with the merchandising team to analyze sell-in and sell-out data, and monitor KPIs (margin, volume, net sales, product efficiency)
- Incorporate insights from past seasons into the development of future collections
- Work with the sales team to build and maintain relationships with key customers and integrate their feedback
- Manage the go-to-market process for each collection
- Collaborate closely with design, merchandising, apparel, footwear & equipment, marketing, sales, retail, e-commerce, and product development teams to create cross-functional concepts and strategies
Your proven path
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Fashion Management, or a related field
- At least 5+ years of experience in product or category management
- Excellent product and market knowledge within the outdoor/sports industry
- Strong understanding of collection development, product development, production, and sourcing processes
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills
- Several years of experience in team leadership
- Fluent in English, both written and spoken
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Willingness to travel for trade shows, store visits, Jack Wolfskin store checks, and customer meetings, including international travel
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Persuasiveness with the ability to inspire enthusiasm
- Strong strategic and technical expertise
